This
is the first year I started cataloguing my Pride experience, and also
the first year I didn't wear just ordinary clothes to Pride. Very
tame compared to everything that came after it though.
I
call it my 'gladiator kilt'. I had made it about a year or so earlier.
It took a whole lot of cursing to get the thing sewn. Broke two needles
on the machine sewing that leather too! But it was worth it: I wear
it to clubs a lot and get tons of compliments, as well as guys wanting
to buy it. Not so much any more because now unusual things like that
are more common in stores, but the reason I made it was because back then I
couldn't find anything along that style to purchase.
The
big question I kept getting asked at Pride was 'What have you got
under that?' My tongue-in-cheek response was "A lot!"
When
I did take it off to show what was underneath it created a lot of
attention and combined with a few comments, the idea of dressing up
for Pride was born.
I
had a fantastic time despite the cool, rainy weather.
