There was a lot of similarity between 2003 and 2004. Liquid latex was used again. When I'd purchased the liquid latex for 2003 I'd bought a tub of red and a tub of white. I didn't have plans for it, but decided that since I was paying the shipping anyhow, it wasn't much to add the extra tub for some other idea. Well, the other idea came as this. I purchased an extremely cheap slingshot thong (this was l-o-n-g before Borat), and cut the entire crotch out of it so all I had left was the two spandex bands that went through my crotch and over my shoulders. On Sunday morning I put the spandex bands on, then painted a pouch on, seaming the latex right to the bands to create one unified piece. This was a LOT easier than the shorts had been because I was covering such a small area with latex. And I didn't need help because it was all right in front of me. This year I started jumping up and interacting a bit with different groups in the parade. It was also the year I discovered I was actually making a serious impact. My friend Tim and I decided to sit across the street from our usual place because there we would get shade for at least a while. But as we arrived on the far side a guy said, "You're in the wrong place." I took it to mean that the spot we'd selected was reserved so was about to move on again. However another guy chimed in with "Yeah, you belong right there." as he pointed to our normal space. From there half a dozen guys got involved in a conversation about what I'd worn each of the past four years. Wow! Once
again the photography was heavy--hundreds of people stopping me for
pics. The only downside to this costume was that the spandex straps
could have been a tiny bit longer: my shoulder area was getting quite
red and sore from the constant rubbing by the end of the day. |
